2017 FRIDAY NIGHT CHALLANGE WEEK 41 (13nd OCTOBER 2017)
Tonight we had 74 drivers battling it out over four racing grids ready for the challenge on the 1100m Le Mans Track. In this week’s Friday Night Challenge we had the drivers from the Burn Out All Stars joining in on the fun!
It was a great and fun night of racing with our drivers testing their mettle and skill on the track. After hard well fought battles from the practice rounds to the Grid Finals and entering the nights super finale were the top 5 drivers from each of the four grids:
FNC GRID A: Michael Ha, Harry Collins, Josh Dreaver, Joshua Stewart, Lee Bromley BURN OUT ALL STARS GRID A: Ben Falk, Bryon Burke, Jay Bloss,Clayton Barbara, Nathan Predo FNC GRID B: Liam Neutze, Cameron Hinwood, Mitch Pikimaui, Blair Pikimauri, Shaun Willams BURN OUT ALL STARS GRID B: Peter Clifford, Joshua Mclean, Rodney Waters, Todd Kopelke
With the karts prepped and ready to go, our drivers head on out to take their positions behind the pace kart in their two by two formation. As the drivers complete their warm-up lap and as the pace kart peels back into pit lane. The top 8 super finalists traverse down the main straight in their two by two formation, all revved up to go and as the green lights went on they are off and racing!
As our drivers proceeded out of corner one we saw some expert line taking and precise manoeuvrings by our super finalist. The drivers move into their positions and start on their racing defence with Michael Ha, Harry Collins and Joshua Dreaver going toe to toe for the first lap. Jay Bloss, Ben Falk, Cameron Hinwood hot in pursuit on their racing line.closely followed by the rear half of the field led by Joshua Stewart and Liam Neutze looking to make their way thru and break into the forward field of this 17 driver Super Final.
Coming out of corner 8 and making their way onto the main straight we saw Michael Ha holding the lead over Harry Collins and Joshua Dreaver. With a gap of 1.907 sec between these rivals from GRID A as they crossed the line to start lap 2 and with both forward and rear of the field the racing was heating on up!
As the Super Final continued on by the 3rd -> 4th lap the crowd from the sidelines were ecstatic as they watched and cheered from the viewing area. Also the viewers using their phones to watch the race times live on the Kingston Park Raceway App.
We saw Michael Ha breaking into the 61sec lap times with a 61.738 and holding a 1.270 sec lead advantage over Harry Collins, Joshua Dreaver. Ben Falk with some great race overtaking we saw Mitch Pikimaru and Joshua Stewart making their way into the first half of the grid. Bryon Burke and Jay Bloss and Nicholas Pedro from the Burn Out All Stars battling in 5th to 7th position attempting to find an opening to make their move.
Lap 5 Michael Ha still defending his lead and breaking into another 61sec lap time with a 61.596. Joshua Dreaver, Harry Collins, Cameron Hinwood and Bryon Burke chasing and looking for an opening to grab the lead. But Michael Ha was not giving them the opportunity as indomitable mountain was not going to budge.
Lap 6 -> 7 Michael Ha now holding a 0.771 sec lead with a new personal best of the night 61.445 sec lap time. With the race closing in to the waive of the checked flag the drivers made their last attempts to move up with the on track positions going toe-to-toe as they came thru the Sponsors Corner.
Lap 7 -> 8 As our drivers exited the Sponsors Corner on the final lap and came onto the Main Straight with the checked flag ready to wave Michael Ha. Still holding a lead Michael Ha came flying down the Main Straight the look on his face as he crossed the line, with a 61.294 sec personal best lap time of the night. With a 0.636 sec lead Harry Collins and Joshua Dreaver going toe to toe with Joshua Dreaver looking for an opening .With the right tactic to pass and take 2nd position from Harry Collins who right to the waive of the flag. Harry Collins defended his 2nd position against Joshua Dreaver who finished 3rd place showing the crowd their racing skills on the track and were closely followed by Cameron Hinwood (4th) and Bryon Burke (5th) and with the rest of the field closely behind to finish one hell of a race out on track!
As the race was over and the drivers returned to the pits and exited their karts the crowd once more gave them a cheer and applause on a well fought race by our super finalists and after the race the finalists and their mates and family members made their way to the podium for the end of night presentation and awarding of our weekly prizes given to our podium finishers.
