Friday Night Challenge - Week 44

Posted on January 26, 2022 by

Welcome to yet another great night here at Kingston Park Race for one of our most exciting and fast-pace events, Friday Night Challenge!! Tonight we saw a total of 24 drivers turn up for tonights event. Majority of those drivers were new and young, with the young drivers only having 2 weeks left until their graduation; and only a couple of our regulars getting there fix as theres only 2 rounds left to go.

With just one big group for this week Friday Night Challenge, only the top 6 drivers will make it into the Super Final.

The Semi Final was a spectacular race with one of our regulars, Michael Ha, holding 1st position throughout the races only lose his top position to Liam Neutze, one of the regulars, at turn 8 on the final lap of the Semi Final. Michael Ha wasnt too pleased with what had happened on that last lap on turn 8.

Even though Michael Ha finished in 2nd place in the Semi Final he still has the upfront position in the Super Final. Following behind Michael Ha were Liam Neutze, Chris Carter, Ken Mcandrew, Cameron Hinwood and Rowdy Burns. All 6 drivers have done great laps times for all their races, ranging from the low 63s to the high 61s. As we get the drivers through the gate to enter pit lane, we feel the anticipation from the racers as they enter their go-karts.

As the pace kart heads out onto the track, trialling behind are those 6 drivers to begin the Super Final. Around the track they go, as the pace kart peels back into the pit lane, the top 6 continue that same pace down the main straight towards the first corner waiting for that green light to go on to start their race. And boom!! They are off!! Listen to the revs of the go-kart engine as they enter the first corner with Michel Ha leading the charge by over taking around the outside of turn one and making it stick  with Liam Neutze and Chris Carter following behind.

With 6 laps remaining there is a 0.01.052 sec gap between 1st and 2nd which is being held by Michael Ha and Liam Neutze in karts 18 and 31. At the back of the pack there is a battle for 3rd position with Chris Carter who is currently holding it and Cameron Hinwood. The battle continues for half a lap until Cameron Hinwood cuts in through the inside of turn 7 and 8 to steal 3rd position off Chris Carter with some smart driving placing his kart wide on the exit to the main straight leave no room for a over and under pass.

4 laps remaining and the gap between 1st and 2nd position keeps getting bigger and bigger with a 0.08.164 sec gap. Michael Ha continues to race away from the rest of the pack showing everyone how its done. On the 3rd lap driver Ken Mcandrew retires from the Super Final as the fast pace race way just too much leaving the top 5 drivers remaining to battle it out on 1100 meter Le Mans track.

With just 2 laps to go, Cameron Hinwood in kart 30 is slowly catching up to the 2nd place trying to pull every trick out of the bag trying to climb another set on the podium Liam Neutze has put his head down and is doing his best to hold him off as he wont let him pass that easy not after all this hard work.

Final lap now with Michael Ha your clear winner, a 0.04.555 sec gap between 1st position Michael Ha and 2nd position Liam Neutze and 0.10.526 sec gap between 1st position and 5th who was Rowdy Burns. And the chequered flag waves for Michael Ha to end another great Friday Night Challenge.

TOP 3 of the Super Final:

1st Michael Ha (61.617)
2nd Liam Neutze (62.337)
3rd Cameron Hinwood (62.133)

Fastest Lap of the Night: Michael Ha (61.617)
