Triple M Tag Team Challenge Round Two is about to get under way and this year it’s a little different, we will be running 90 minutes with 2 driver drivers doing 4 pit stops and one very important kart change over at anyone of your pit stops. So what that means is you will be doing 3 x 20 minutes stints and one x 30 minute stint, it is up to the drivers on how they do their pit stops but each stint must be a minimum 20 minute run. The best time to pit will be when the pit lane is clear so you can get in and out fast.
Before we get the main event under way we will be having Qualifying, one driver from their team will head out onto lemans track giving it their best shot to get the fastest lap they can to see who will be starting on Pole Position. Our fastest driver from Qualifying is Matty Edgeworth with a lap time of a 62.978.
So our starting grid will is as follows:
As all driver gear up and start to head out onto the track behind the pace kart in there 2 by 2 formation, the pace kart pulls off the lemans track, the drivers are waiting for the lights to go green and green we go…GO GO GO!!! We are off and racing with all drivers heading down into turn one as its still raining, Matty Johns lead out of turn one but they have the entire grid hot on their tail.
Oh oh, The Fillins have been pushed wide and ended up driving in to the tyre wall at turn three dropping them all the way back to last place, lucky the race has only just started, they’ll have 90 mins to pull that grid back in. FNC Boys make there move going into turn one to take the lead making it stick, they quickly start to open a gap up from the rest of the grid with some smooth racing.
We have a new fastest lap Nathan Heuschele laying down a 61.151 as he drives his way back through the grid making up for the earlier mistake into the tyre wall. Now that places him in 5th position before coming in for his driver change over, now it’s up to Ryan Mount to keep up the pace. I think team Potatos forgot it was a race when doing their driver change over as they stopped to talk about the weather before getting back onto track costing them some time and slipping down the grid.
As the grid opens and drivers start finding the best racing line around are LeMans track we have The Fillins leading the way after coming from last place, in 2nd we have Matty Johns and 3rd is F1 Wanna Bees rounding off are top 3 teams. All teams have now done their kart change overs and it’s a real sprint to the end of the race, not long is left now, and most of the drivers are breaking into the 61s/62s second lap times getting the real hang of the karts.
The checkerd flag is out and we are onto are last lap of the 90 minutes race here on LeMans as the leader heads down the main straight they are almost a lap ahead of 2nd place with a great drive. Taking the checker flag goes to The Fillins (Nathan Heuschele, Ryan Mount).
Fastest driver on track was Nathan Heuschele with a 61.151 and that is the 2nd fastest lap time of the year.
