Friday Night Challenge - Week 30

Posted on January 26, 2022 by

Tonight we had 40 drivers battling it out with two racing groups on the 1100m LeMans Track. It was a great and fun night of racing with our drivers testing their mettle and skill on the track. After hard well fought battles from the practice rounds to Semi-Finals we had 8 of the best entering the nights FNC Super Final.

Josh Dreaver (238pts), Nathan Wood (236pts), Jorden Enders (224pts), Craig Liedel (220pts), Wade Van Ingen (216pts) , Ben Cummings (212pts) , Joshua Browning (210pts) , Josh Wiffen (206pts)

With the karts prepped and ready to go, our drivers head on out to take their positions behind the pace kart in their two by two formation. As they complete their warm-up lap and the pace kart peels back into pit lane, they travel down the main straight all revved up to go. The green lights were on and theyre off racing!

As our drivers proceeded out of corner one we saw some expert line taking and precise manoeuvrings by our super finalist as they moved into their positions and start on their racing.

Coming out of corner 8 and making their way onto the main straight we saw Josh Dreaver holding a solid lead over Joshua Browning who had moved from second last place. Wade Van Ingen and Nathan Woods are battling it out for third with Jorden Enders, Ben Cummings, and Josh Wiffen in hot pursuit of the lead holders as they were looking for an opening to move up in the field.

As the Super Final continued on by the 3rd -> 5th lap the crowd was ecstatic as they watched and cheered from the side lines, also using their phones to watch the race times live on the Kingston Park Raceway App. Nathan Wood was engaged in some race overtaking to pass Wade Van Ingen which resulted in him hitting tyres at turn two and dropped down to last place. Josh Dreaver holding his lead over the field of 1.777 sec. As he attempted on breaking into the 61sec lap as he has done in his previous heats.

Jorden Enders found an opening and got past Wade Van Ingen moving up into 3rd position and having his sights now on Josh Dreaver and Joshua Browning. Following the leaders and looking for an opportunity to pass we saw Craig Liedel, Ben Cummings and Josh Wiffen battling for fourth position on track. Wade Van Ingen also in pursuit with Nathan Wood pitting for a kart change over and returned to racing.

Lap 6->7 we saw Josh Dreaver breaking into a 6sec lead while breaking into the 61sec club with a 61.961. The race now closing in to the waive of the checked flag the drivers made their last attempts to move up with the on track positions as they came thru the Sponsors Corner and hit the Main Straight Josh Dreaver had Joshua Browning right on his exhaust who was looking for the right tactic to pass Josh Dreaver who had defended 1st position in this super final.

As our drivers exited the Sponsors Corner on the final lap and came onto the Main Straight and with our Track Marshall at the checker station ready to wave the flag Josh Dreaver and Joshua Browning were neck and neck down the straight for the dash to victory at the flag with Josh Dreaver claiming 1st position. Joshua Browning 2nd who both gave themselves a great challenge on track and was followed by Jorden Enders, Craig Liedel, Josh Wiffen, Ben Cummings, Wade Van Ingen, Nathan Wood..

As the race was over and the drivers returned to the pits and exited their karts the crowd once more gave them a cheer and applause on a well fought race by our super finalists and after the race the finalists and their mates and family members made their way to the podium for the end of night presentation and awarding of our weekly prizes given to our podium finishers.
