Friday Night Challenge 2018 - Week 19

Posted on January 5, 2022 by

Tonight we had a total of 53 drivers battling it out in three racing grids on the 1100m Le Mans Track for this weeks Friday Night Challenge Race Competition. It was a great and fun night of racing with our drivers testing their mettle and skill on the track and after hard well fought battles from the practice rounds, heats and Semi-Finals those entering into the nights FNC Super Final were:

GRID-A: Joshua Manser, Dylan Menz, Josh Mcleod, Austen Walker

GRID-B: Mitchell Brown, Alborz Fallah, Joel Siepen, Daniel Gurowski

GRID-C (BSE QLD PTY LTD): Cameron Webb, Ben, Barker, Tim O’Regan, Bruce Skipp

With the karts prepped and ready to go, our drivers head on out to take their positions behind the pace kart in their two by two formation. They complete their warm-up lap, the pace kart peels back into pit lane and they travel down the main straight in their two by two all revved up to go and the green lights were on and they are off racing!

As our drivers proceeded out of turn one we see everyone starting to bunch on up to break into the lead as they proceed around the front half of the track, as the came back down to the main straight to complete lap one we see Joshua Manser holding the lead followed by Dylan Menz and Ben Barker who now have control of the top three positions closely followed by Austen Walker and Joel Siepen with the remainder of the grid hot on their exhaust in full pursuit.

As the Super Final continued on by the 2nd -> 3rd lap the crowd was ecstatic as they watched and cheered from the side lines whilst also using their phones to watch the race times live on the Kingston Park Raceway App. Joshua Manser was holding a solid lead of 5.613sec lead with the rest of the grid in full pursuit. Ben Barker had dropped back to mid-field with Austen Walker moving from 4th to 3rd position and Daniel Gurowski and Joel Siepen had also both found an opening from the back of the grid to move on up to 4th and 5th positions in the field with Josh, Mcleod, Alborz Fallah, Mitchell Brown, Bruce Skipp, Tim O Regan, Cameron Webb looking for the opportunity to move on up from rear of the field.

Lap 4->5 we saw Joshua Manser breaking into the 61sec lap times in this super final with a 61.546 and progressing to a 7.999 sec lead over the field. Dylan Menz, Austen Walker, Josh Mcleod, Daniel Gurowski and Mitchell Brown were defending the their positions looking for what opportunity they can muster to close the gap and catch up to the race leader with Bruce Skipp, Alborz Fallah, Joel Siepen, Ben Barker, Tim O’Reagan, Cameron Webb looking for any and all opportunities to make it up to the forward field.

Lap 6->7 Coming down the Main Straight to starting the 6th Lap Joshua Manser begins the lap holding a solid lead and continues to dominate out on track now moving into an 8.636 sec lead with no one seeming to be able to catch this speedster on track. We saw Dylan Menz and Daniel Gurowski battling for 2nd and 3rd positions while Austen Walker and Josh Mcleod battled for 4rd and 5th positions. As the race begins to close in to the waive of the checked flag the drivers made their last attempts to move up on track, as they came thru the Sponsors Corner and hit the Main Straight for the Start of the 7th lap Joshua Manser was now holding a solid lead of 9.497sec. With the final push now on he was followed by Dylan Menz who has maintained 2nd place with a solid defence and with Daniel Gurowski, Josh Mcleod, Austen Walker, Mitchell Brown, Bruce Skipp, Alborz Fallah, Joel Siepen, Ben Barker, Tim O Reagan and Cameron Webb looking for their last push to the checked flag.

Lap 8 and as the drivers exited the Sponsors Corner on the final lap and came onto the Main Straight and with our Track Marshall at the checker station ready to wave the flag Joshua Manser holding a staggering 10.497 sec lead down the straight followed by Dylan Menz and Daniel Gurowski. As they raced down the straight holding on to the top 3 positions dashing to victory and the prized checked flag was Joshua Manser claiming 1st position with a solid lead, followed by Dylan Menz defending his 2nd place right to the waive of the flag, Daniel Gurowski 3rd, and with the rest of the field shortly following who all gave themselves a great challenge on track in this final race.

As the race was over and the drivers returned to the pits and exited their karts the crowd once more gave them a cheer and applause on a well fought race by our super finalists. After the race the finalists and their mates and family members made their way to the podium for the end of night presentation and awarding of our weekly prizes given to our podium finishers.
