Tonight we had 51 drivers battling it out in three racing grids on the 1100m Le Mans Track in this weeks FNC Race Night competition.
It was a great and fun night of
racing with our drivers testing their mettle and skill on the track and after
hard well fought battles from the practice rounds to Semi-Finals we had
entering the nights FNC Super Final were:
GRID
A: Stefan Lawrence (228pts), Kelley Farrell (224pts), Domingo Arias (208pts)
GRID B: Angus Mathers (230pts), James Greenwood (210pts), Aaron Brown (210pts)
GRID C: Luke Chivers (222pts), Ben Watts (218pts), Sebastian Millard (178pts)
With the karts prepped and ready to go, our drivers head on out to take their positions behind the pace kart in their two by two formation and as they complete their warm-up lap, as the pace kart peels back into pit lane they travel down the main straight in their two by two all revved up to go to the green lights and they are off racing!
As our drivers proceeded out of corner one we saw some expert line taking and precise manoeuvrings by our super finalists as they moved into their positions and start on their racing.
Coming out of corner 8 and making their way onto the main straight we saw Kelley Farrell and Stefan Lawrence holding a solid lead over James Greenwood and Domingo Arias who were battling for 3rd position on the field with Angus Mathers, Luke Chivers, Ben Watss, Sebastian Millard in hot pursuit looking for an opportunity to move up in positions on track.
As the Super Final continued on by the 3rd -> 4th lap the crowd was ecstatic as they watched and cheered from the side lines and also using their phones to watch the race times live on the Kingston Park Raceway App. Kelley Farrell was holding a solid lead defence with a 0.975sec lead, James Greenwood with some expert line taking had moved up from 3rd to 2nd position nudging Stefan Lawrence down into 3rd position where he had Angus Mathers and Ben Watts hot on his exhaust followed by Luke Chivers, Domingo Arias, Sebastian Millard and Aaron Brown who had dropped to last place due to a kart change over in pit lane which placed him to the rear of the field.
Lap 5 we had Angus Mathers, Ben Watts and Luke Chivers battling it out for midfield and with Stefan Lawrence solidly defending 3rd position while attempting to look for an opportunity to reclaim second place from James Greenwood. Domingo Arias, Sebastian Millard and Aaron Brown are the rear of the field looking for any and all opportunities to make it up to the forward field. Kelley Farrell still holding a solid defence over his competition holding a 1.054 sec lead and pulling the best lap time of the super final with a 62.314sec.
Lap 6->7 we saw Kelley Farrell still holding a solid lead and continuing dominate out on the field as the race begins to close in to the waive of the checked flag the drivers made their last attempts to move up with the on track positions as they came thru the Sponsors Corner and hit the Main Straight James Greenwood defending 2nd position had Stefan Lawrence hot on his exhaust and both looking for the right tactic to catch up to and pass Kelley Farrell who was now holding a solid lead of 1.979sec.
Lap 8 and as our drivers exited the Sponsors Corner on the final lap and come onto the Main Straight and with our Track Marshall at the checker station ready to wave the flag Kelley Farrell holding a 2 sec lead down the straight followed by James Greenwood and 5 sec behind him was Stefan Lawrence as they raced down the straight holding on to the top 3 positions as they dashed to victory and the prized checked flag - Kelley Farrell claiming 1st position, followed by James Greenwood 2nd, Steffan Lawerence 3rd, Angus Mathers 4th,Ben Watts 5th, Luke Chivers 6th, Sebastian 7th, Domingo Arias 8th, Aaron Brown in 9th who all gave themselves a great challenge on track in this final race.
As the race was over and the drivers returned to the pits and exited their karts the crowd once more gave them a cheer and applause on a well fought race by our super finalists and after the race the finalists and their mates and family members made their way to the podium for the end of night presentation and awarding of our weekly prizes given to our podium finishers.
1st place Kelley Farrell (62.314)
