Welcome to another 1 hour endurance race, our lightweight
division all ready to take on the challenge of the 1100-meter LeMans track in our
Honda powered karts. As we are about to get our night under way some clouds
move over the LeMans track and it starts to rain…looks like we are in for an
interesting night ahead. Before the main event can start we need to get qualifying
under way to see who’s starting on pole, as the rain gets heaver it’s not going
to make it any easier.
Our top 3 drivers are Clinton Goodwin taking out Pole with
86.397, not far behind is Nathan Herne in 2nd And John Courtney in 3rd,
that’s our 3 fastest drivers giving them the head start for the main event.
All of our drivers gear themselves up and head out to pit
lane, they’re getting ready for their 1 hour race ahead, they head out onto the
1100-meter lemans track behind the pace kart in their two by two formation. As
the pace kart pulls in the drivers drive down the main straight waiting for the
lights to go green. The lights are GREEN and we are off and racing down into a wet
turn one with Clinton Goodwin getting off to a great start leading the gird.
As Clinton Goodwin begins to opens up a good lead Jessynta Perry
runs wide around turn three and slides out causing her to drop to the rear of
the gird. As the rain picked up the drivers slip and slide around the track.
Liam Neutze takes advantage of the rain moving up the grid and puts him self
onto Clintons Goodwin Bumper now giving him a challenge.
Pit window is now open and almost everyone pulls in on the
first lap, this results in a bit of a slow kart change over causing a few
drivers to drop back a few places as the best time to change is when the pit
lane is empty. We have a new leader, Nathan Herne after our kart change overs.
The rain picks even more as the drivers keep racing on.
Pit lane is now closed…one lap later Clinton Goodwin pulls
into the pits for his kart change over, UH OH…he has miss the pit window, this isn’t
going to help him win the race. Oh no, Laim Neutze runs wide and lets through
Treigh Maschotta moving up into 2nd place. The 1 hour mark is now up,
the leaders head onto the main straight for the last time the checker flag is
out, and our winner is Nathan Herne.
1st Nathan Herne
2nd Treigh Maschotta
3rd Liam Neutze
Fastest lap Nathan Herne 80.464 wet
