It’s now time for the Heavyweight Category to take charge, they’re ready to take on the Iron kart challenge as all drivers head out onto track for their warm up. As the drivers find the best and fastest racing line before the main event trying to get the upper hand. The top 3 drivers from qualifying are 1st Mat Westwell 63.744 2nd Kevin O’Connell 63.748 3rd Trent Monks 64.430 will one of these drivers take the win at the end of the 1 hour race.
The drivers gear up and head out onto the track behind the pace kart in their 2 by 2 formation, the lights go green we’re racing! We are under green around the 1100 metre Le Mans track, all drivers head down into turn one bumper to bumper, no one wants to give an inch.
As we get off to a clean start with no driver falling victim to the tyre walls we see Andrew Barnes moving throw the grid moving up from 11th place into 6th with a good strong run. Oh no, Chey Looby has drop to the rear of the grid due to over driving his kart getting a little tail happy and missing his apex letting the other drivers pass like he was sitting still lucky its only the start of the race, he will have to make it up but his Apex will have to be spot on from now on to make up lost time.
Pit lane is now open and right away the pit lane action is on, most of the drivers pulled in with Andrew Barnes needing a bit of a rest after a good drive. As most driver drops have done there 60 second stop they jump into the next kart waiting up the front and off racing they go again. After kart change over Bob Cripps hold himself strong in 9th place after starting last on the grid.
As we head into our last few laps of the race only three drivers are on the lead lap as the rest have fallen behind the pace over the 1 hour race. The checked flag is out and Steven Breed takes the win for the Heavy Weight Iron kart Challenge around the 1100 meter Le Mans track.
1st Steven Breed 2nd Mat Westwell 3rd Kevin O’Connell .
