It had been
competitive all night, the drivers came into the briefing area fully prepared
knowing full well what needed to be done to seal the victory for the night.
However, the quality of drivers that were there, made sure that doing so would
not be an easy task whatsoever and the rain that was beginning to fall was
going to make the track hard to negotiate with. The drivers were chatting and
joking with each other before the race, however they knew that to win they were
going to need to do anything in their power to beat the person sitting either
side of them. The pace kart goes out on track and the drivers follow closely
behind, sitting on the front row was Josh Dreaver and Michael Ha, on the second
row was Josh Manser and Liam Neutze, third row was Lewis Barry and Marcello
Genta and coming from the back was
Nathan Batrachenko and Jay Harvey. The pace kart peels into the pit lane and
the drivers come up the straight, awaiting that signal to begin racing.
Green
Light!!! The drivers begin racing with Josh Dreaver getting the holeshot on
Michael Ha with Liam Neutze following closely behind. The three top drivers
already pulling a small gap on the other drivers but turn 3, however with the
conditions the way they are, its anyones race. Coming up to turn 4 and you
can see that Liam is looking quick and eager to try and get passed Michael and
as they come up to turn 5 Liam passes Michael and sets his sights straight on
Josh up in first place. Coming around to start lap 2 and Liam is hot on Joshs
tail and looking pumped to get passed Josh, however creeping back up behind him
was Michael and by turn 5 Michael is going for a move up the inside of Liam,
however goes too hot up on the inside and drifts out wide, losing a lot of time
on Liam in the process and giving fourth place a chance to get passed him.
Coming up to lap 3 and Liam is still right behind Josh and looking more and
more likely that he is going to jump in to first. However disaster strikes and
Liam spins out, giving Josh a 5 second lead on Liam and also giving Michael a
chance to catch back up, only being 4-5 kart lengths behind him now.
As we enter
the fourth lap, the rain starts to get heavier and the drivers have to change
their driving style to suit the conditions. Joshua Manser, who had been quick
all night was back in fifth however was getting quicker and quicker, looking
like he was going to get passed and take back fourth place, further back in the
pack there were little battles forming between drivers and the action was
picking up again after a quiet fourth lap. The leaders come around to begin
their fifth lap and Michael was looking QUICK! Catching Liam at an alarming
pace and as they come out of turn 4, Michael makes his way around Liam to get
back into second place and set his sights on Josh Dreaver, who at this point in
time had a fairly uncontested lead. The three leaders came through turn 7 and
Liam had come in too hot and spun out Michael Ha, however, showing a great
sense of sportsmanship, slows down and waits for Michael and readdresses as
they get going again. This however gives Josh Dreaver the breath of fresh air
that he had been waiting for, as he enters lap 6 with a 17 second lead!
As Josh
realizes he has this gap, he slows himself down, minimizing the risk of
spinning out. Furthe back in the pack, Joshua Manser and Nathan Barachenko are
fighting over fourth place and going through turn 2 they are side by side and
Joshua Manser gets the run out of the corner allowing him to slip by and get in
to fourth place. As the drivers begin their last two laps, Marcelo Genta spins
out at turn 8, which pushed Jay Harvey up into sixth place and put Marcelo
Genta a lap down giving Lewis Barry the chance to get into seventh place. As
our leaders come down the main straight on the final lap, our marshalls have
the chequered flag ready and as Josh Dreaver comes down the straight hes
already celebrating his flawless win. Coming out of turn 8 was Michael Ha and
Liam Neutze, with Liam getting a better run out or turn 8 and with a side by
side finish, Liam by only 0.112 seconds comes in second over Michael, fourth
place went to Joshua Manser, fifth place went to Nathan Barachenko, coming in
sixth was Jay Harvey, seventh went to Lewis Barry and coming in eighth went to
Marcelo Genta.

At the
trophy presentation it was smiles from everyone as they were chatting about the
race they just had. Chats were had between all drivers and great sportsmanship
was shown as they all shook hands, talked about the night and you could see
some new friendly rivalries forming between drivers. Overall a fantastic racing
